Requirements for Munindra Narayan Dutta Baruah scholarship
Background :
M. N. Dutta Baruah (1924 -1999) was a noted author, publisher, and a social worker. He was the managing partner of Dutta Baruah and Co. and Sree Guru Press, and the founder of the respected Assamese weekly ‘Saptahik Nilachal ‘established in 1968.
His publications included many textbooks for primary and high school students, including an atlas in Assamese and text books in Geography for grades 9th and 10th.
Dutta Baruah always encouraged young Assamese children especially the ones who were born and brought up outside Assam to learn Assamese language and culture so they do not face rootlessness.
In memory of their father, the family of Munindra Narayan Dutta Baruah has offered a yearly scholarship of US $300 each to two PGI School graduates who meet the criteria shown below.
- The US$300 of Munindra Narayan Dutta Baruah scholarship is generously donating by his family members each year to encourage learning Assamese language.
- The student need to complete ‘Reading and Writing’ Basic, Intermediate and Advance level from PGI School.
- In all these levels attendance should be 95% and above.
- In all these levels student needs to complete his/her homework regularly.
- Final marks should be 90% and above.
- Teacher will also notice the progress of spoken Assamese.
- The recipients of 2021 scholarship are Aran Barman from Texas, USA and Anuran Bhushan Das from Leicesterchire, UK.
